Racing thoughts
before bed.
Racing thoughts tend to arrive the moment the day goes quiet. They aren’t a sign anything is wrong with you; your mind is trying to solve things it can’t solve at midnight.
1. Breathe out for longer
In for four, hold for two, out for six. The long exhale is the part that tells your body it can settle. A few rounds is enough.
2. Come back to the room
Five things you can see, four you can hear, three you can touch. It takes a minute and pulls attention out of tomorrow and into where you are.
3. Put the loudest thought somewhere
Write the one that keeps coming back, in a sentence, and pick a day to look at it again. When that day comes, note what actually happened. Over time, that record does more than any amount of telling yourself it will be fine.
Try it now, no app
Write the worry and seal it. It comes back to you in your calendar on the day you pick. Nothing you write is sent to us.
